Eling Tide Mill

The Heritage Centre

Opposite the Mill is the Heritage Centre where you can travel through the history of Totton and Eling from pre-historic times to the present day. Here you’ll see the 3000 year old Bronze Age dagger found in Testwood Lakes and experience the bombing of the Eling Tar Works in the Second World War from the safety of our air-raid shelter.
You can see a display of Thomas Mydlington signing the lease of Eling Mill in 15thc, a display of shipbuilding and even information on the Titantic.

With information panels, artefacts and reconstructed scenes from throughout the decades.

The Historical Society meet every Thursday afternoon 2pm-4pm to assist with family research such as records of births, marriages or deaths. They also have a large collection of photographs and slides ranging from education material to World War I and II.

The society also put on displays in the Museum, the next one is the Exhibition of the 1940's which is taking place throughout July with a special opening weekend on 4th and 5th July.

TIDE MILL LAUNCHES NEW BROWN FLOUR

Having milled stone ground flour on site for more than 900 years using the power of the Tide, the historic Eling Tide Mill is proud to announce the production of a brand new brown flour - “Flour of the Forest Brown”.
